Gender
Typically, female patrons represent the highest percentage at 65.4%. Male patrons represent 31.1% and people who identify as non-binary, gender fluid, transgender or other represent 3.5%.
Education
Attendees of theatre audiences typically have a higher level of education, aligning with income and engagement levels observed in similar cultural activities. 86% of those aged 25 or older have completed college and 43% have completed graduate school.
Frequency of Attendance
Among surveyed theatre attendees, 55.4% reported attending at least two performances per year. Avid attendees, who attended 5 or more shows, comprised 4.9% of the audience but accounted for more than 30% of ticket sales.
Likelihood to Attend Future Performances
A vast majority (95%) expressed their likelihood to attend another theatre performance in the future, with 42% planning to do so within a three month span.
Theatregoing Companions
The majority of theatre goers attend with family and friends. Men are more likely to attend with a spouse, whereas women are more likely than men to attend with friends or other family member.

Whites continue to represent the majority of theatre goers, however diversity among theatergoers has increased, with Black, Asian, Hispanic/Latin, Middle Eastern, Indigenous, and People of Color attendees now making up 29.4% of the audience, the highest percentage to date.
